A Getaway to Coastal Maine

After 6+ years of living in New England, I finally took a trip to Maine! We had such a fantastic off-season stay at a stunning property in Coastal Maine and instantly fell in love with the area’s natural beauty. Tucked away along the stunning oceanfront sits the historic Cornerstone Cottage in Lamoine, Maine, which offers the perfect mixture of comfort, relaxation and adventure. Located near Acadia National Park, this 100+ year-old cottage was originally part of the Shore Acres Hotel, a property that dates back to the mid-1800s. With four spacious bedrooms that accommodate up to eight guests, it’s an ideal spot for couples, friends, or a family getaway.

Coastal Charm Awaits at the Historic Cornerstone Cottage

From the minute we checked-in and even in the days before, everything was seamless and there were so many thoughtful touches. In advance of your stay, the owners provide a digital guidebook which have check-in/check-out instructions, tidbits about the cottage, and local recommendations for every season. As someone that was new to the area, this was so incredibly helpful and not something I’ve experienced in other stays. I referenced the guidebook often during the trip and felt like it was from a “locals” perspective, and not just a list of all the touristy things.

My absolute favorite part of the cottage is you can step right out to your own private shore access and take in the stunning views of the ocean. In the warmer months, you can see the boats out on the water. Whether you're lounging by the water and reading a book or gathering around the fire pit for an evening of relaxation (firewood and roasting sticks included!), the coastal charm is undeniable. The expansive yard is perfect for outdoor games, while the covered porch offers a peaceful spot to enjoy the views. I loved waking up in the morning and taking coffee down to water or having a glass of wine on the porch at night.

The cottage offers something unique in each season. In the transition between winter and spring, we loved the indoor wood-burning fireplace which created a cozy atmosphere to unwind after a day of exploring. The property is also equipped with WiFi, which was perfect for me as I was doing some remote work, as well as a Smart TV with Hulu Live, ESPN+, and Disney+.

The cottage also features a large kitchen stocked with everything you need, including a pots, pans, spices, a wine fridge, drip coffee maker, and French press. And with appliances like a washer/dryer, slow cooker, blender, and hand-held mixer, you’ll have everything you need for a relaxing, hassle-free stay.

Exploring the Area

Located within walking distance to Lamoine Beach and Lamoine State Park, the cottage is ideally situated for outdoor lovers. A short drive takes you to Acadia National Park, the picturesque villages of Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Southwest Harbor, and the beautiful Schoodic Peninsula. Acadia National Park is such an incredible place and while there were certain things closed because it was the off-season, we loved visiting the beautiful Sand Beach. In addition to Acadia National Park, we loved having dinner at Peeky Toe Provisions - the smoked fish chowder is excellent, as well as breakfast at the quaint Clark Point Cafe which has great coffee and breakfast items.
